Poncle Launches Publishing Division to Support Third-Party Developers

Vampire Survivors studio Poncle has announced the launch of a new publishing division aimed at assisting third-party developers. The plans were revealed at Game Republic's recent Pitching to Investors and Publishers event where Poncle emphasized its intent to avoid the traditional IP-focused publishing model.

Instead of acting as a conventional publisher, Poncle aims to provide essential support that enables developers to bring their games to life. This includes assistance with quality assurance localization platform support and release management.

Poncle’s approach to potential projects will focus on offering development advice characterized by sincerity passion and depth. However the studio has specified its preferences noting it will not consider projects related to web3 AI-generated games free-to-play mobile titles or titles too similar to Vampire Survivors.

As of now Poncle has not established a formal application process or website for interested developers to pursue partnership opportunities.

The launch of Poncle's publishing division comes at a time when several indie studios are forming similar initiatives. Earlier this year Owlcat Games and Innersloth also announced their own publishing labels with distinct focuses on narrative-driven games and original creative titles.

Meanwhile larger publishing labels like Humble Games and Take-Two's Private Division have experienced significant restructurings and some face potential shutdowns or sales. Humble Games recently underwent a restructuring that impacted newly released titles while smaller publishers have also been affected by recent layoffs. Versus Evil shut down at the end of 2023 and Brace Yourself Games reportedly cut its staff in half nearly a year after launching its own label.
